The chief of police of Odessa region Oleh Bech reported that according to the preliminary conclusion about the cause of the fire in the building of the Odessa College of Economics, law and hotel and restaurant business, provided by police representatives of the State service of Ukraine on emergency situations (SSES), the fire occurred because of faulty wiring or appliances.

As reported by the Department of communication of the police of the Odessa region on Tuesday, beh noted that this is only a preliminary conclusion about the cause of the fire, and the final conclusions will of fire-technical examination, which will be assigned on the basis of the act SES, and seized from the scene of objects and documents.

“Now continues active work of investigation of this terrible tragedy began further inspection of the scene, which, in addition to our employees, will take the experts from Kiev, continuing interrogations, appointed 63 examination. Today we still have unidentified bodies of 11 of those killed in the fire. On signs, clothing, personal belongings we understand who these people are, and by the end of the week they should arrive and the first results of genetic examination. This means that next week we can start working with the families of the victims, so they can take the bodies of their loved ones,” – said the head of GUNP.

As reported at 10:12 Wednesday, 4 December, at the Odessa College of Economics, law and hotel and restaurant business on the third floor of a six storey educational building was on fire, the area of which reached 4 thousand sq. m. divisions of gschs rescued and evacuated 40 people (12 people brought by staircases 10 people bred by links GDZS and 18 people using the stairs and lifts) of about 400 who were in the building at the time of the fire.

At 14:18 on the same day the fire was localized, but the putting out individual fires and smoldering plots continued for a long time.

Upon a fire criminal proceedings under part 2 of article 270 (violation established by the legislation of fire safety requirements) of the Criminal code of Ukraine.

December 12 in gschs reported that as of 7.00 on the number of deaths due to a fire in the building of the Odessa College has risen to 16 people.

“During the search operations found the bodies of 14 dead (bodies of 9 people not identified). In total, the fire killed 16 people, injured 30 people, in medical institutions remains 8 people”, – is told in the report on the Agency’s website.
