Main military Prosecutor’s office of Ukraine since the beginning of the antiterrorist operation (since April 2014) on the facts of the Russian military aggression has prosecuted 79 people, including 49 citizens of the Russian Federation.
As reported Wednesday on the website of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, the court directed 43 of the indictment against 46 people (20 of them Russian citizens), 32 people are wanted.
The courts sentenced 30 people to prison terms ranging from 3 to 15 years, among them is 11 Russian citizens, including three military personnel of the armed forces. “These judicial decisions recognized the fact of Russian aggressive war with Ukraine,” – said the military Prosecutor’s office.
In addition, with the participation of the employees subject to military prosecutors, the courts have considered 26 of the criminal proceedings opened for treason, for crimes against public safety, for the waging of aggressive war.
24 proceedings taken of convictions in respect of 24 persons, with appointment of punishment in the form of imprisonment for the term from 3 to 12 years. Currently in production of the military Prosecutor is 90 proceedings on these offences, of whom 78 persons it is reported about suspicion.
At the same time, the Chief military Prosecutor’s office stated that “the issues of exchange of the Russian military and the illegal armed groups on Ukrainian prisoners of war deals exclusively with the joint coordination centre search, release illegally detained persons, hostages and establishing the whereabouts of missing persons” in the area of the ATO, which operates under the security Service of Ukraine. In addition, the authority is entitled to make and keep a record of persons illegally deprived of their liberty, seized as hostages, missing and dead (if their bodies were not returned) in the zone of the ATO, starting from 7 April 2014.
