An emergency meeting of the members of the UN Security Council on Ukraine may be held April 25 in the afternoon new York time, reported “Interfax” a source in the UN.
According to him, the meeting can be held on Thursday, April 25, at 15:00 (22:00 Kiev time).
Earlier Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree “On establishment for humanitarian purposes of the categories of persons entitled to submit applications for admission to Russian citizenship in a simplified order”. According to the decree, such a right is acquired by persons residing in the territories of separate districts of Donetsk and Lugansk regions of Ukraine
Permanent mission of Ukraine to the UN said on Facebook that Ukrainian diplomats asking to convene a meeting of the UN security Council in connection with the introduction of a simplified procedure for receiving Russian citizenship for residents of certain regions of Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
“Ukraine asked for the convening of a meeting of the UN security Council to discuss the daring decision of the Russian Federation on the issuance of Russian passports in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine”, – stated in the message.
