Elections of the head of the organization took place on Saturday in Moscow. For the post of head of the Russian chess Federation also claimed member of the Supervisory Board of the Russian chess Federation from Ingushetia Zaurbek Malsagov and leading researcher of the Institute of Economics Ivan Starikov. For Filatov voted 56 people, Starikova – 14, Mal’sagov – 1.

The President of the International chess Federation (FIDE) Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, the champion of the USSR on jumps on skis from a springboard Eduard Suboch and President of the chess Federation of Rostov and Moscow regions Sergey Nesterov in the elections withdrew their candidacies.

Earlier support for the candidacy Filatov expressed the Board of Trustees of the Russian chess Federation and several players, including 14-th world chess champion Vladimir Kramnik and participant of the match for the chess crown in 2016 Sergey Karjakin.

Also on Saturday, the 10th world chess champion Boris Spassky was elected honorary President of Russian chess Federation.

Filatov is Vice President and FIDE senior trainer of man’s Russian national team. He heads the Russian chess Federation in 2014.
