Administration of seaports of Ukraine (ASD) with the support of Odessa city mayor has announced an open all-Ukrainian architectural competition for the modernization of the passenger terminal of Odessa sea port, the press service of the administration.

“Our goal is to give the marine gates of the city complete, turn the passenger complex in a popular and modern tourist location. We invite you to participate in the competition of architects all over Ukraine, regardless of age and experience,” the report cited the head of the ASPU Raivis Veckagans.

In competition can take part legal (architectural and design studios, construction companies, etc.), and individuals under 18 years (architects, urban planners, designers, students of specialized universities, etc.), living in the country.

The winner of the competition will be the best project of the open area of the passenger terminal on the results of the jury vote.

Registration of contestants from 13 March to 28 April 2017 .

As reported, in January 2017 R. Veckagans announced plans to develop ASD passenger complex of Odessa seaport in different directions.

Within the passenger terminal it is planned to develop three areas: a social space for residents and guests with an artificial shadow areas, viewing platforms and relaxation areas; event tourism and business, including exhibitions, conferences, gastronomic festivals, concerts, fairs, creation of areas for cultural and leisure activities family and children’s entertainment; entertainment by creating year-round educational and cultural center for townspeople and visitors alike. Including the planned establishment of restaurants and food courts.

On the third level of ascomplex also planned to accommodate the town’s tourist information center in accordance with European standards.

As noted by R. Veckagans , the modernization of the complex will not affect the traditional tasks of the port on reception of foreign tourists, location of diploma-passport Department of the service of the captain of the port offices and the port authority.

Odessa seaport is located in the South-Western part of Odessa Bay on the artificially created territory of 109,5 hectares area

In the port are served by vessels up to 270 m and draught up to 13 m. the Total length of berthing line is more than 8 km.
