TASS, July 15. Azerbaijani Teimour Radjabov won the third Grand Prix of the International chess Federation (FIDE) in Geneva.
In the final ninth round Radjabov played out a draw with Russian Ian Nepomniachtchi. Also ended in a draw match between Azerbaijani Shakhriyar Mamedyarov and Chinese Li Chao, Russian Alexander Ryazantsev and Englishman Michael Adams, the Russians Ernesto Inarkiev and Israeli Boris Gelfand, Russian Alexander Grischuk, the Dutchman Anish Giri. Russian Peter Svidler defeated HOU Yifan from China, Levon Aronian of Armenia won the representative of the UAE’s Salem Saleh.
Radjabov led the standings with six points. Followed by Grischuk, Nepomniachtchi (both 5.5), Mamedyarov, Giri, Svidler, Adams, Chao, Ryazantsev, Harikrishna (5), Aronian, Gelfand, Jakovenko, Eljanov (4.5), Inarkiev (4), Yifan, Rapport (both 2.5), Saleh (2).
The Grand Prix consists of four stages . As cities of the competition was chosen Sharjah (UAE), Moscow, Geneva and Palma de Mallorca (Spain). The Spanish round will be held from 16 to 25 November. Grandmasters, who will take first and second place after four stages, next year will play in the candidates tournament.
