PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, October 4. /Offset. TASS Elena Vereshchak/. Bear with a rare colour in white shirtfronts settled on the shore of Kuril lake in South Kamchatka Federal reserve on the Kamchatka Peninsula. On Wednesday reported the press service of the fgbu “kronotskiy state reserve”.

“A distinguishing feature of the two-year young female, who today, together with my mother and sister constantly kept in the Northern Bay of Kurile lake, was a white scarf or bib around neck, chest and upper back of the animal. Deviation from the normal color of a specific animal species scientists call an aberration. It’s pretty rare, it is associated with genetic variations, natural selection and deserves a separate research,” – said the press service.

Experts suggest that perhaps one of the ancestors of the bear was albino, but neither his mother nor sister do not have white spots . However, in the entire history of scientific observation in the reserve bears the albino is not met. The inspectors had seen only the brown bear with a partially painted with white patches of fur and the beast with contrasting white ears and paws.

The South Kamchatka Federal sanctuary named Tikhon Shpilenok is under the control of fgbu “kronotskiy state reserve”. Its territory is home to the largest protected population of brown bears in Russia (about 1 thousand individuals). On the whole territory of Kamchatka is home to about 21 thousand individuals these predators.
