The conclusion of the contract can be broken.

There is a likelihood that at the forthcoming meeting of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin with Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe in Osaka on the G20 forum a definitive agreement to launch five joint projects in the economic activities of the parties on the southern part of the Kuril Islands will not be concluded. This is with reference to several unnamed Russian officials Kyodo writes (translation – RBC).

Negotiations on these issues, according to interlocutors of Agency, was complicated by the fact that Moscow and Tokyo have focused on the discussion of a peace Treaty, and the dialogue about joint economic activities on the Kuril Islands was temporarily suspended.

In this area the parties, Kyodo indicates, there are contradictions in matters of tourism, and waste management. Will it be possible to resolve them before the summit is unknown, the Agency said.

The projects in question relate to the cooperation of Russia and Japan on the Kuril Islands in the field of fishery, medicine, tourism and ecology. Putin and Abe agreed during the visit of the President of Russia to Japan at the end of 2016.

The G20 forum to be held in Osaka Japanese 28-29 June.
