The feast of Tinjan, which is celebrated in April, heralded the end of the hot season and the New year in Burma.

According to reports the New Light of Myanmar news Agency “Xinhua”, the water festival, Tinjan in Myanmar led to the deaths of 285 people, 1073 were injured. Only according to official figures, were carried more than 1,200 crimes: in addition to murders, theft, illegal use of weapons, use of narcotic substances, accidents on the roads. The greatest number of deaths happened in Yangon (44), bago (37) and Mandalay (36).

In General, Myanmar law enforcement reported an increase in crime during the festival compared to last year. In 2016 year, there were 272 violent death, 1086 people were injured.

Thingan festival, held this year from 13 to 16 April. It marks the end of heat and the onset of the Burmese New year .
