Culture news: Literary festival “Book Arsenal” this year will be held in Kyiv for the eighth time. The festival will run from 30 may to 3 June at the “Art Arsenal”.

About 200 Ukrainian writers and 100 guests from 31 countries in the world – it’s all about large-scale “Book Arsenal”, which will be held from 30 may to 3 June.

“Book Arsenal” is an intellectual event which brings together literature and art. More than 150 publishers and niche projects will present their best new products and designers, illustrators, artists and exhibition projects.

If in past years the festival talking about writing during the war, and the laughter in times of crisis, this year the curatorial team of the festival offers a glimpse into the future. The focus theme of the festival – “future Project” .

What humanity wants next? What will be the new world order, what are the chances of democracy in the face of hybrid challenges? How to resist dehumanization in times of change? Can modern technology create a (super)man? – to these and other questions will find answers during the festival.

The festival will present special projects related to modern technologies, changes in reading practices, new opportunities for contemplation, feelings, experiences and living stories. The combination of storytelling, VR and illustrations will be implemented in the project “Out of Sight” (Netherlands), Goethe – Institut in Ukraine and the Frankfurt book fair is “Metamorphosis” by Franz Kafka in virtual reality, and tour of virtual room upgraded Kiev library. Kostomarov using VR glasses will allow you to submit public space of the future.

One of the prominent locations of the festival will be “the future Café” where the coffee is for visitors to prepare their works.

Among the foreign guests this year: UNESCO expert and Director of the Paris Institute of practical philosophy, one of the most famous world experts on child development Oscar Brenifier (France), poet, translator and human rights activist, one of the founders of the Lithuanian Helsinki group, Professor of Slavic languages and literatures at Yale University, Venclova (Lithuania) and others.

Special guest of the “Book Arsenal” – Bratislava book festival (BRaK). Under the guidance of Peter Mihalka (Slovakia), BRaK presents the festival’s unique programme of readings, public talks and events. Among the participants of the program one of the most visible writers of young generation of Slovak Michal Hvorecky, whose newest book is “Troll” to be published in Ukrainian translation.

This year the musical program presented by the festival Next sound, promoting the diversity of digital art combined with progressive and experimental music, engaging the senses, and will be attended by artists from France, Germany, Austria, Ukraine.

discounted ticket is 30 UAH;

– family ticket 130 hryvnia.

The right to have a concessionary ticket (with valid ID): pensioners, schoolchildren aged from 12 years old students. Family ticket is for two adults and one three children aged 12 years.
