Earlier the Prosecutor’s office said that diplomats were engaged in collecting secret information in Bulgaria in favor of Russia.

“The Ambassador of Russia in Bulgaria was invited to Bulgaria’s foreign Ministry where he was handed the notes to declare a diplomat of the Embassy persona non grata and the announcement of the employee of the trade mission is unacceptable [entity] in accordance with the Vienna Convention. No evidence to support their implementation of activities incompatible with their status was not submitted. The Russian side reserves the right to take retaliatory action,” – said the Russian Embassy.

The Russian side considers the decision of the Bulgarian authorities to disseminate information about the diplomats in the public space prior to the official notification of the Embassy “is not appropriate traditionally constructive relations between States”.

The period in which the Russian diplomats should leave Bulgaria, not specified.
