Churches in Georgia on Easter will not close, but will comply with all necessary security measures, say the government.
“We have active communication with the Patriarchate and the Patriarch. We have decided that the law will not be violated, the Church will not be closed and will be respected by the social distance with the purpose of caring for the health and lives of our citizens”, – said Wednesday evening at a briefing the press Secretary of the head of the Georgian government Irakli Chikovani.
According to him, according to the joint decision of the Patriarchate, the churches will be complied with all safety standards established by the Ministry of health of Georgia and the Center for disease control.
He noted that in large churches must be complied with as a minimum six-foot distance between people, in small Church service would be held without a congregation only with the participation of clergy and Church members.
While Chikovani said that before all the churches will be on duty crews of the patrol police, who will monitor the compliance with the curfew and social distance.
As explained to journalists the head of service on public relations of the Georgian Patriarchate, Archpriest Andria of Jagmaidze, it was decided that the part of the parishioners who want to remain in the temple on Easter night, will come to the temple prior to the commencement of the curfew, that is, until 21:00pm and leave the Church at 6:00 in the morning, lifted the curfew.
He assured that the Church will be complied with all the instructions of state and departments of health.
In Georgia today confirmed 306 cases of infection with coronavirus COVID-19. Of this number, three people died. Nine Georgian citizens died from the coronavirus abroad.
