SAINT PETERSBURG, July 8. /TASS/. The ceremony of farewell with the writer-soldier, an honorary citizen of St. Petersburg Daniil by Granini gathered about 700 citizens of St. Petersburg in Lutheran cemetery in Komarovo, 40 km from the city.

Funeral procession of 18 cars and six buses were taken out of the Tauride Palace of St. Petersburg residents, who wished to accompany the writer on his last journey. In Komarovo the ceremony were joined by local residents. For many of them Granin was a neighbor and a pleasant companion during walks.

The cemetery was put up a guard of honor. Near the grave of dozens of wreaths from red roses and carnations wreath from the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, wreaths from Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, the President’s Plenipotentiary in the Northwest Federal district (SZFO), St. Petersburg government, the Federal Assembly, the Legislative Assembly of Petersburg, the Union of theatrical figures.

A military band played “the Twentieth prelude” by Chopin. With words of gratitude and sorrow to Daniel Granin turned physicist Miron Amusia, son of Zalman Komisarova, one of the three commanders of Daniil Granin during the great Patriotic war, which in 1985 Granin dedicated the essay “My commanders”.

“Daniil has armed us, physicists, in a powerful way, it seemed to us that, like the hero of his novel “Going to storm,” we’re going to storm,” he said, noting that the writer was not only a talented storyteller, but also a terrific listener, “imbibing as a sponge, news of modern physics”.

After the ceremony, the farewell at the open coffin was made three volley rifle salute. Under sounds of the Anthem of Russia the coffin of the writer lowered upholstered in Burgundy silk tomb. Each of the participants of the ceremony threw a handful of earth from installed on both sides of the grave vases.

Lutheran cemetery

Granik tomb located near the tomb of his wife Rimma Maiorova. Komarovsky cemetery are buried the poet Anna Akhmatova, composer Oleg karavaychuk. There buried the artist of “Lenfilm” Vladimir very, who passed away last week.

Among the participants of the funeral ceremony were the General Director of the Hermitage Mikhail Piotrovsky, historian, chief editor of the magazine “Star” Yakov Gordin, writer Andrey Astvatsaturov family, Director Alexander Sokurov, people’s artist of the USSR Oleg Basilashvili, the President of the Russian Academy of education Ludmila Verbitskaya, figures of culture and art.
