On the last day of competitions the Russian became the second in weight category to 68 kg, losing in the final to three-time world champion and two-time Olympic medalist Lee Dae-Hoon (South Korea). For Denisenko, who is a silver medalist of the Olympic games 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, the tournament in Moscow was the first major start after a trauma, from-for which Russians are almost not played after the Games in Brazil.

“Obviously, I wanted to win, but you could even say that a bit unlucky. I was very tired for the finals, since I have long breaks in between fights . Had to give 100 percent in every battle, in the final, I have not had time at the speed of the reaction. However, for me, after returning such a result could be called successful,” – said Denisenko.

At the tournament in Baku in December last year, I spoke without preparation, and now was my first real tournament with the strongest Taekwondo athletes. I believe that after such a long break I made good, got to the final, it is very important for me at the moment”.

The first stage of world series Grand Prix of 2017 Taekwondo Championships was held in Moscow from 4 to 6 August. The second phase will take place in Rabat (Morocco) from 22 to 24 September.
