Luzhkov was the second mayor of the Russian capital and directed it 18 years from 1992 to 2010.

84 year of life died a former mayor of Moscow Yuri Luzhkov, reports REN-TV on Tuesday, December 10.

According to the channel, he died in a clinic in the German city of Munich, where he performed heart surgery.

Interfax confirmed information about the death of Luzhkov. The Agency cites a source in its close environment.

In June 1992, Luzhkov became the second mayor after Gavriil Popov. He ran the city for 18 years. 28 Sep 2010 then-President Dmitry Medvedev has sent it in resignation “in connection with loss of trust”.

Earlier, at the age of 76 years has died the national actor of Ukraine David Babayev.
