Testosterone levels affect the risk of cancer and diabetes. To such conclusion scientists from Cambridge and Exeter universities, reports MedicalXpress.

Experts have established that elevated levels of the sex hormone is not a consequence of the disease, and one of its causes. A high level of testosterone promotes the emergence of tumors of the breast and prostate glands.

Elevated levels of testosterone in women increases the risk of developing type II diabetes by 37%, while in men the likelihood of developing the disease is reduced by 14%.

It was also found that high levels of testosterone in women increases the risk of polycystic ovary syndrome and endometriosis.
