During the antiterrorist operation killed 38 military medics. This was stated by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko during a speech in Pokrovsk the Donetsk region, which was broadcast channel “112 Ukraine”.

“I want to thank the medics who selflessly perform their professional duties in terms of military action. In the combat zone and at the forefront of defence directly involved in the provision of medical care took about 3.5 thousand military medics. Of these, more than 200 injured, 248 military doctors were awarded state awards, 38 physicians, unfortunately, never returned from the battlefield, and among them Igor Zenich – Hero of Ukraine, 25-year-old medic, Sergeant. Imagine he had the right on rotation, had to go home, but refused. Because he had an important role to save the cyborgs at the Donetsk airport. 40 fellows Igor saved a life, but not preserved… We bow to doctors, paramedics, health care workers who died performing their military duty . Please a minute of silence to honor their memory,” he said.

According to him, since the beginning of ATO medical care received more than 10 thousand Ukrainian military.

“86 thousand combatants you provided a professional diagnosis and provided treatment. 3700 officers and soldiers were medical and psychological rehabilitation in sanatorium establishments of the Ministry of defense. Most of them expressed a desire after the quality of assistance provided to Ukrainian doctors, to return to their units and continue service”, – said the head of state.
