PYEONGCHANG /South Korea/, 8 Feb. /TASS./ Eighty people from the delegation of Olympic athletes from Russia will participate in the opening ceremony of the winter Olympic games 2018 in South Korea’s Pyeongchang. The journalists said the head of the delegation of Olympic athletes from Russia’s Stanislav Pozdnyakov.

“Today, our delegation is 168 athletes, almost all of them here in the near future there will arrive hockey players – said Pozdnyakov. – All athletes gladly decided to participate in the Olympics. We are grateful to the organizing Committee for a comfortable stay and training. Experienced athletes notice that Games are organized on high level.”

“80 people delegation will participate in the opening ceremony,” – said Pozdnyakov.

The Russian team because of the disqualification of the Olympic Committee of Russia does not accept participation in Games in Pyeongchang. Russian athletes will compete under the Olympic flag in status of the Olympic athletes from Russia. At the opening ceremony of the Olympic flag, which will host the delegation, will be borne by the volunteer, appointed by the organizing Committee of the Games.

The opening ceremony of the Olympics will be held February 9, beginning at 14:00 GMT.
