State enterprise “NAEK “Energoatom” in 2018 plans to invest in improving safety of NPP units 5,166 billion UAH (without VAT) credit funds of the European Bank for reconstruction and development (EBRD) and the European community for atomic energy (Euratom), which amounts to 32.4% of the total volume of the investment program in 2018.

In General, the NAEC count on the approval of the investment program for next year in the amount 15,952 billion, which in addition to the sources of credit funds of EBRD and Euratom should serve as profit (8,915 billion) and depreciation (1,871 billion ).
Key areas of investment are increasing security, reliability and efficiency, as well as the extension of service life of power units (10,973 billion), new construction (3,364 billion UAH, including objects of social sphere – 0,112 billion), the physical protection of nuclear installations (0.33 billion UAH) and other capex (1,049 billion).
As was reported initially of the Comprehensive (summary) program of increase of safety of power units (Ccsup) of the Ukrainian nuclear power plant, which is co-financed by the EBRD and Euroatom were approved for 2012-2017, but in September 2015, the Cabinet extended the deadline for its implementation until 2020. The volume of financing was initially estimated at 12,453 billion, but in 2013 it was increased to 16,751 billion UAH (without VAT).
Ccsup approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of 7 December 2011. The program, developed by Energoatom and agreed by the State nuclear regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine, including all activities of the previous programme for improving safety and additional “post-Fukushima” measures developed by the results of “stress tests” held at the Ukrainian NPPs taking into account the lessons of the accident at Japanese nuclear power plant Fukushima.
The program sets the volume of measures to increase the security that must be implemented at each nuclear plant.
The program will allow you to bring the level of safety of Ukrainian nuclear power units in accordance with the highest international requirements and ensure the full implementation of international commitments of Ukraine to improve the safety of operating nuclear power plants.
“Energoatom” is the operator of all operating nuclear power plants of Ukraine. Operates Zaporizhzhya, South-Ukrainian, Rivne and Khmelnitsky stations equipped with water-cooled power reactors with a total installed electrical power of 13,835 GW.
