MOSCOW, July 8. /TASS/. Players of Euroleague clubs have a right to go to the matches of national teams under the auspices of the International basketball Federation (FIBA) during the season. About it reports a press-service of the League.

FIBA earlier expressed outrage at the calendar of the League for the upcoming season due to the fact that it does not provides a window for national teams games.

“The Euroleague and the clubs have always supported the tournament teams, as it contributes to the development of basketball and did not condemn the players and coaches decided during the season to leave the team location, the statement of the League. – That right remains in force for all officials, we condemn all measures of pressure on players, coaches, referees . Traditionally, the Euroleague is never left in the calendar breaks for the matches of national teams that FIBA decided unilaterally to organize tournaments teams during the club competitions, is the responsibility of FIBA and contrary to our agreements. To the teams brought together the best players we sent to FIBA a few alternative versions of the calendar, but this proposal remained without response.”

In the summer of 2015 FIBA broke the contract with Euroleague to conduct club competitions from the 2015/16 season and has announced the creation of a new tournament – the Champions League. Currently in Europe, held three international club tournament. The most prestigious is the Euroleague, which is played the strongest representatives of the countries, also holds the Euroleague trophy, which is the second most important competition. The Champions League is held under the auspices of FIBA, is considered the third power tournament.

In June, the court of Luxembourg ruled that the Euroleague has to pay €900 thousand FIBA for the organization of European club competitions in accordance with the agreed contract amount, which the League refused to pay the Federation in the period from 2012 to 2015 because of a conflict with the organization.

In season 2017/18 Russia in the Euroleague will represent the Moscow CSKA and situated near Moscow “Khimki”.
