The international Federation of chess (FIDE) is holding an internal investigation about the appearance on the official website of the organization news of the resignation of President FIDE Kirsan Ilyumzhinov. TASS said the Vice-President of FIDE, the head of the Russian chess Federation (RCF) Andrey Filatov.

In a letter to FIDE Executive Director Nigel Freeman in the name of Ilyumzhinov posted on the FIDE website on Tuesday, said that an extraordinary meeting of the presidential Council will be held on April 10.

“RCF was fully satisfied with the work of Ilyumzhinov as President of FIDE. And we think that sanctions and pressure that it is played only for the benefit of world chess. Because of increased public attention the work in all areas has increased and it has become obvious,” – said Filatov.
