MOSCOW, may 31. /TASS/. The international football Federation (FIFA) announced the creation of a smoke-free environment on the objects and events of the 2018 world Cup and confederations Cup in 2017, which will be held in Russia. This reports the press service of FIFA.

“Create an environment free from tobacco smoke, on objects and events of the world championship – one of the important directions of the strategy 2018 in the area of sustainable development, – said the Director of the sustainable development Department of the organizing Committee “Russia-2018” Milan Vergunova. To accomplish this we are actively cooperating with who, Ministry of health, the expert community, the cities-organizers, operators of the stadiums, ambassadors and supporters of the championship, the Russian football Union . I really hope that together we will be able to contribute to reducing tobacco consumption in Russia.”

Earlier, the Russian football Union (RFU) and the Russian team announced a competition for fans across the world no tobacco day (may 31) called “Live without tobacco”. The winner of the contest, the results of which will be announced after the completion of the confederations Cup, will have the opportunity to participate in the training of the national team of Russia on football.

The matches of the confederations Cup will be held from 17 June to 2 July in Moscow, St.-Petersburg, Kazan and Sochi. Team Russia will play in group A, where they will play against teams from New Zealand (17 June, Saint Petersburg), Portugal (21 June, Moscow) and Mexico (June 24, Kazan).

The 2018 world Cup will be held from 14 June to 15 July at 12 stadiums in 11 Russian cities: Moscow, Saint – Petersburg, Kazan, Sochi, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Kaliningrad, Yekaterinburg, Saransk, Volgograd and Rostov – on-don.
