The international football Federation (FIFA) thanked the Vice-Premier of the Russian Federation Vitaly Mutko for his invaluable contribution to the preparation for the 2018 world Cup. This is stated in the statement of FIFA, at the disposal of TASS.

On Wednesday, Mutko said that resigned as Chairman of the organizing Committee “Russia-2018”. It will replace the head of the Committee Alexei Sorokin.

“FIFA has taken note of the decision of Vitaly Mutko to resign from the post of Chairman of the organizing Committee of the world Cup. FIFA Mutko thanked the Lord for his invaluable contribution to the preparation for competitions,” – said in a statement.

“FIFA continues to work closely with the organising Committee under its new leadership, and with the Russian government, the Russian football Union and the host cities with the purpose of the exceptional events in June and July,” – said in a statement.

The organizing Committee “Russia-2018” for preparation and holding of world football championship established by the government of the Russian Federation and the RFU in January 2011. Mutko held a post of the Chairman of the organizing Committee and Vice-Chairman of the Supervisory Board.

World Cup matches will be held from June 14 to July 15, 2018 in 11 cities of Russia.
