BRYANSK, 18 Dec. /TASS/. The Foundation named the Ambassador of Russia to Turkey Andrei Karlov, who was killed in Ankara in 2016, will receive children from the city of Klintsy of the Bryansk region on vacation to the Turkish coast in late February – early March, 2018. The agreement, he said, was reached during a meeting with the management of the Fund. “In the city administration held a meeting of the leadership of Klincy and the Director of the Foundation Charles Vadim Zolotistogo. It was decided that the first group of children for rehabilitation in Turkey will be sent in late February – early March,” said Shkuratov.

The head of the Klintsy noted that for the year to vacation in the Turkish town of Demre, located in the province of Antalya, are planning to send several groups . “Also we live in the city a few dozen disabled children, for which we will later develop a plan of improvement,” he added. According to Shkuratov, travel of children will include a tour.

Klintsy is a city that is part of the areas exposed in 1986 the radiation contamination after the Chernobyl accident. According to Shkuratov, all born in the contaminated territories children for medical reasons must annually go on holiday. Trip to Turkey will be paid from the Fund.

The head of the Klintsy said that the deceased Russian diplomat considered the city his second home – lived here with his grandparents. As previously said, the widow of Ambassador Marina Charles, in his childhood he often visited in Klintsy. The diplomat for a few years before his death, said he wanted to find in Turkey, sister city of Klintsy for the development of social and economic programs. At the end of November 2017, the agreement on twinning was signed with the Turkish city of Demre.

Charles was killed on 19 December 2016 during a speech at the opening of the photo exhibition in Ankara. Diplomat posthumously awarded the title Hero of Russia “for their resilience and courage in the post of extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Turkey, a great contribution to the implementation of the foreign policy of the Russian Federation”.
