Charitable Foundation “Oxygen” together with the project “Breathe life” launched the campaign “take a breath” to raise funds for people diagnosed with cystic fibrosis who need lung transplants. This is stated in the press release of the charitable Foundation.
The collected money will be directed, first and foremost, patients who need to rent accommodation in Moscow while waiting for a transplant or in the postoperative period.
To participate in the charity event, the user is prompted to place on the personal page in social network Facebook the photo or video where he stops breathing and add the hashtag #zagorichane and send an SMS donation. The requisite data can be found on the Foundation’s website.
The event is held for the second time. The first time it was held under the motto “it is Easier to help than not breathing!” in the summer of 2016. According to the report of the Fund “Oxygen”, the event attracted more than 100 thousand rubles .
Funds were allocated to wards Fund with cystic fibrosis. This genetic disease affects the respiratory system and the gastrointestinal tract, can be inherited by children from healthy parents, carriers of this mutation. In the case of internal organ systems and a patient with cystic fibrosis is irreversible, to improve its condition and extend the life of lung transplantation.
According to the Global Observatory of donation and transplantation in 2014, in Russia there were 12 operations on lung transplantation in Europe – 1998 operations. The real need for such procedures in Russia and in the world – ten times higher noted in the Institute of emergency care named Sklifosovsky. For example, in the United States by the end of 2012, the waiting lists across the country there were more than 76 thousand people in 2016, their number has increased to 120.9 thousand
