KALININGRAD, July 20. /TASS/. Stadium for the 2018 world Cup in Kaliningrad will be home to local football club “Baltika”. This was stated by the Governor of the Kaliningrad region Anton Alikhanov at the joint meeting of the presidential Council on development of physical cults and activities of the Supervisory Board of the organizing Committee “Russia-2018” in Kaliningrad.

“Stadium “Kaliningrad” in the first place, it’s home for football clubs, in our case – football club “Baltika”, which plays in the national football League,” said grant porter, noting that given the geographical situation of the region, the regional authorities view the prospect of its development as a multi-functional centre, which can accommodate not only sports, but also entertainment, event, exhibition .

According to him, the arena can be a major stimulus for the development of sports and event tourism. On its basis it is planned to create a Museum of sports, indoor stadium it is planned to allocate sites for fitness, to several thousand square meters, sports and leisure clubs, children’s centres and youth associations as well as commercial leases.

“In our view, it would be correct to consider the creation of [the squares of the stadium] educational childcare centers and children’s parks – that is, the stands of the premises it is allowed, and such opportunities”, – said the chief Executive officer.

The Governor noted that the region is planning the creation of a football Academy, but the region is planning the development of other sports, particularly athletics and Rugby.

Touching stadium, Alikhanov said that the region is considering creating a special structure that will be established by the regional government and to engage in the maintenance and operation of the arena.

Stadium In Kaliningrad

Stadium in Kaliningrad is built on the Oktyabrskiy island in the Central part of Kaliningrad. This five-story building (including the technical floor) with three tiers and six outputs. In the arena, which accommodates 43 319 viewers, matches of the 2018 world Cup Croatia – Nigeria (2:0), Switzerland – Serbia (2:1), Spain – Morocco (2:2) and Belgium – England (1:0).
