MOSCOW, June 23. /TASS/. Russian grandmaster Alexander Grischuk took second place in the first nine rounds of the chess tournament at the first stage of a series Gran-tour, which takes place in Paris.

The chess tournament (rapid) was held in one round from 21 to 23 June, the time control is 25 minutes + 10 seconds per move. The blitz will be held in two rounds on June 24-25, participants will get 5 minutes per game adding three seconds for each move.

The first place after nine rounds rapid was taken by the Norwegian Magnus Carlsen, who scored 14 points. Then follow Grischuk (13), the American Hikaru Nakamura (USA, 12), Shakhriyar Mamedyarov (Azerbaijan) and Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (France) – 11, Wesley so (USA, 9), Sergey Karjakin (Russia, 8), Veselin Topalov (Bulgaria, 5), Etienne Bacrot (France, 4), Hikaru Nakamura (USA, 3).

The Grand tour is a representative commercial competition, which this year will consist of five stages . Immediately after the tournament in Paris will take place on stage in the Belgian Leuven is also in rapid chess and blitz.
