Ambassador of Hungary in Ukraine Erno Keskeny invited to the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine to explain recent appeals by the Vice-Prime Minister of Hungary Zsolt semien of the autonomy of the Hungarian minority in neighboring countries, said the speaker of the Ukrainian foreign Ministry Marian Betz.

“Today we have invited the Ambassador of Hungary for conversation and hear his comments. He must now come to us”, – said M. Betz the Agency “Interfax-Ukraine” on Wednesday.

Previously the foreign Ministry of Ukraine said that the issue of rights of national minorities in Ukraine must not be used for forcing of the atmosphere of mistrust and misunderstanding.

“We must stand together to resist attempts to use the issue of ensuring the rights of national minorities, including the interpretation of the words of J. Semien, as it has repeatedly been made by the Russian aggressor, to foment an atmosphere of distrust and misunderstanding . Indeed, thanks to years of efforts of the Ukrainian authorities and the Hungarian community level for cultural, religious and educational needs of ethnic Hungarians in Ukraine is in many ways an example for other countries in the region”, – is spoken in the comment of the MFA of Ukraine, released by the press service of the Ministry reported on Wednesday.

The Ukrainian foreign Ministry noted that the appeals of J. Semien perceived “surprise” and that Hungary “has always been and is an important partner for Ukraine.”

“We appreciate the friendly nature of bilateral relations and high level of constructive cooperation. We expect that the position of respect for the territorial integrity, sovereignty and Constitution of our state in the future is the basis of good neighbourly relations. Any speculation on this subject is not in the interests of our two countries and peoples, and, hopefully, do not reflect the official position of Budapest” – said the Minister.
