MOSCOW, may 24. /Offset. TASS Andrei Kartashov/. London has applied to host a match for the title of world chess champion in 2018. About TASS said the President of the International chess Federation (FIDE) Kirsan Ilyumzhinov.

In 2016, the match for the world title took place in new York. In the struggle for the chess crown current title holder the Norwegian Magnus Carlsen on tie-break was stronger than Russian Sergey Karjakin.

“I just arrived today in England, where he met with businessmen, lawyers, who expressed the desire to help carry the match for the world title in London, – said Ilyumzhinov. – So there is another contender”.

Previously, Japan, South Korea and Singapore announced the desire to play a match.
