The Moscow stage of the FIDE Grand Prix ended on Sunday. The winner it became the Chinese GM Ding Liren.

“Thank you to all the players, they played and tried less draws to do, – said Ilyumzhinov. – Hope there will be more beautiful victories and fewer draws. Chess is becoming more popular, the chess boom has gone beyond the limits of Europe”.

“Moscow is considered the center of development and popularization of chess. I would like to thank the organizers for organizing this great tournament”, – said the head of FIDE.

The Moscow stage is the second of four in the series Grand Prix, which compete 24 players . Two best players will go to the candidates tournament to determine the opponent of defending world champion Magnus Carlsen in the match for the chess crown.
