With such statement on Saturday was authorized by the German government for cooperation with Russia, Central Asian countries and the Eastern partnership, member of the Bundestag Gernot Erler.
“A criminal record (Cherevatenko) would be a blow to cooperation on the civil society level between our countries”, – said Erler.
He finds the severity of criminal prosecution of the Chairman of the Union “women of don”, winner of the Franco-German prize for the protection of human rights for 2016 “irrelevant”. Erler promised that the German government will closely monitor the developments around this case .
As reported, on June 2, Russia’s Investigative Committee has charged Cherevatenko accusations of “willful failure to comply with the law on “foreign agents”. The maximum penalty for this offence is two years imprisonment. The criminal case against Cherevatenko open in June 2016.
