Fire in Haiti took the lives of 15 children

Two children were killed during the incident while 13 others died in hospital because of breathing problems.

In Haiti in the orphanage at the Church there was a fire that claimed the lives of 15 children. On 15 February, reported CNN, citing police data.

It is noted that the fire happened on 14 February at a Church retreat of American religious organizations not far from the capital of Haiti, Port-AU-Prince. The cause of the incident could be an accident due to the use of candles.

According to the AFP, two children died from the fire in their rooms when the fire broke out. 13 children died in the hospital from breathing problems.

As stressed by a local judge Raymond Jean Antoine, the shelter was funkcionirovat without permission and was located in unsuitable building. At the time of the fire there were about 66 children and only three adults.

The fire spread to the first floor of the orphanage, where there were bedrooms. However, the smoke penetrated to the second floor where are also located the children’s rooms.
