The inflation rate in Venezuela in may 2018 exceeded 24500% yoy, and the prices for every day grew 2.4%. This was announced on Monday, Rafael Guzman, head of the Finance Committee of the National Assembly, informed local media.

The unicameral Parliament of the country is under the control of the political opponents of the government led by President Nicolas Maduro.

“In may, hyperinflation in Venezuela made up of 110.1%, cumulative — 1995,2%, in annual terms — 24571%, said Guzman. These data show that nothing was done to stop the hyperinflation, and while they (the Maduro government) are looking for ways to keep the power, they destroy the lives of Venezuelans”.

The government in the second half of April, once again raised the minimum wage . Taking into account the funds allocated for the purchase of food products, guaranteed minimum income earners amounted to 2.55 million bolivars.
