The remains were found during preparatory work before construction of the airport. Just found the skeletons of mammoths and 60 15 human burials.
In Mexico, scientists have identified the remains of 60 mammoths, as well as 15 human burials of the pre-Hispanic period. This was reported on the website of the Mexican National Institute of anthropology and history.
It is noted that the remains were identified at the construction site of the new international airport Felipe Angeles in Mexico.
“Detection and recovery of approximately 60 skeletons of mammoths and 15 human burials of pre-Hispanic time to the construction site of the international airport of a name of General Felipe Angeles will allow progress in understanding the evolution of the basin of Mexico,” – said in a statement on the website of the Institute.
According to archaeologists, the instances of mammoths are in the form of Mammuthus columbi, which inhabited North America in the Pleistocene period, which ended 12 thousand years ago.
A few kilometres from the remains discovered in November were first preserved trap on mammoths age 14.5 thousand years, but in this case we are talking about the natural death of animals probably drowned in a swampy area.
Human burials, found by archaeologists belonged to farmers who were buried near the settlement, along with pots, bowls and clay figurines. Discovered ceramics indicates the age of the settlement, which was on this place in VIII-X centuries of our era.
Scientists assure us that the location of excavation will not entail alterations or the cancellation of the construction of the airport, and that the findings were made thanks to the work being carried out.
The plans of the historians and the defense Ministry, which acts as a Builder, to include a part of the archaeological finds in the Museum-reserve in the territory of the airport complex.
Previously, Mexican archaeologists have found the baths of the Indians of the XIV century. The building was constructed of Adobe brick and covered with igneous rocks. Before that, in the jungles of Mexico found a thousand-year Mayan Palace.
