Three men on Friday evening beat up the chief editor of the newspaper “Pravda NA”, which covers the events in Ovidiopolsky district of Odessa region, Roman Varshanidze.
As told to the victim in a video message, which he posted on the newspaper’s website, the attackers were armed with iron bats and beat him, including on the head.
“Having received the first blow to the head, began to defend themselves, with the result that one of the attackers lost the keys to your car, making it possible to identify the perpetrators. Thank you, our Ovidiopolska police worked quickly,” – said R. Varshanidze.
According to him, the attackers are residents of the city of Chernomorsk (former Ilyichevsk), athletes one of kikbokserskie clubs.
Editor-in-chief was not informed who he suspects in the attack, noting only that those wishing to settle the score a lot. “I hope customers can establish as quickly as performers,” he concluded .
In turn, the chief of the National police in Odessa region Dmitry Golovin on his page in Facebook reported that all three men who attacked the journalist, was detained.
“Establish the motive for the attack and the circumstances of the offense under part 2 of article 345-1 (threat or violence against a journalist) of the Criminal code of Ukraine”, – he said.
