In the Odessa region on Sunday, August 18, declared a day of mourning in connection with death of people during a fire in the hotel “Tokyo Star”.

“In connection with the tragedy that occurred in Odessa on 17 August and led to the deaths of people to declare August 18, 2019 in the region a day of mourning for the victims”, – is told in the decree signed by acting head of Odessa regional state administration Svetlana Shatalova (document published on the website of the state administration).

Throughout the area on buildings of state institutions and enterprises on the day of mourning will be lowered state flag of Ukraine.

As reported, in Odessa in the night of Saturday, August 17, there was a fire in hotel “Old Tokyo” by vul, 1 which killed nine people (eight people died on the spot, one in the car “first aid”), 10 people were injured.

According to the information SSES, among the victims there are people in serious condition. According to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, four of the victims – in critical condition.

Among the victims – two foreigners and a child.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman instructed to immediately begin large-scale inspections of places of recreation of citizens, especially hotels and resorts.

In the Unified register of pretrial investigations included information under part 2 of article 270 (violation established by the legislation of fire safety requirements) of the Criminal code of Ukraine.

In addition, the investigators of territorial administration of the state Bureau of investigation (UIR), located in Nikolaev, carry out pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings on the fact of inadequate execution of official duties by employees of gschs in Odessa region, which led to a fire at the hotel and death (part 2 of article 367 of the Criminal code of Ukraine).

In the SSES indicated that in July, was planned to check the hotel, but changed the form of ownership, and representatives of the civil service are allowed to check.
