Partners in the U.S. clearly understand the internal and external challenges facing Ukraine, but do not mix aid in security and support reform, stressed the first Vice-speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s representative to the Humanities subgroup of the Trilateral contact group Irina Gerashchenko after a visit to the United States.

“In all the offices and all the meetings we’ve been to, the key topic was the security situation in the Donbas and in the Crimea as a challenge to the blatant disrespect for boundaries. There is a clear understanding that Ukraine needs support in the field of security and it is also the responsibility of the US as a signatory of the Budapest Memorandum. There is a clear separation of internal and external challenges of Ukraine”, – she wrote on the Facebook page on Thursday.

According to I . Gerashchenko, an understanding that “for the war in the Donbass carries Russia’s responsibility, and the price that Moscow has to pay for the aggression is only going to grow.”

At the same time in the United States is concerned about “certain internal processes in Ukraine and the pace of reforms”. But the American partners expect responsibility from Ukraine, complete her homework, said the politician.

“But I emphasize: don’t mix in a bunch of assistance in the security sector and assistance in carrying out reforms,” she said.

The same applies to personnel policy. “Resignation, appointment is a matter for the Ukrainians. But, at the same time, Western partners expect systematic, independent, connected with production of impartial and proper operation of all structures, first of all we are talking about anti-corruption bodies. There can be no backsliding. And sabotage”, – concluded the first Vice-the speaker, noting that supports this position.
