18-core Core i9-7980XE will be the answer Intel on 16-core AMD Threadripper.
Intel may release an 18-Core Intel Core i9-7980XE. Alongside, the manufacturer will manufacture the new chips Core i9-and i9 7940X-7960X 14 and 16 cores respectively, writes VideoCardz. Core i9-7980XE refers to the CPU family Skylake-X compatible with motherboards LGA 2066. It contains 44 lines PCI Express 3.0 and Quad channel memory controller DDR4 2666. The cooling system should be designed for removal of 165 watt thermal power.
It is noted that the 18-core Core i9-7980XE will be the answer Intel on 16-core AMD Threadripper. It is expected that the new chips line i9 14, 16 and 18 cores will be released in the fall of 2017. However, the price and other characteristics remain unknown.
According to several sources, the first three processors a new line i9 will exhibit E312 June 2017 . Core i9-7800X, i9-and i9 7820X-7900X will get 6, 8 and 10 cores, respectively. Model Core i9-c 7920X 12 cores, Intel announced in August.
