Naval forces of Israel intercepted a small civilian vessel “Freedom”, which tried to break the naval blockade of the Gaza strip under the Swedish flag.
This was announced by the IDF on its website on Saturday, 4 August.
The operation to intercept the vessel was held at night. The report notes that the Israeli military made it clear to the people on the ship that they violate the blockade, and what to transfer humanitarian goods to Gaza through the port of Ashdod.
“Intercept the ship passed without incident. As a result, the ship was directed to the Parking lot in this port, and the sailors were sent for medical examination”, – stated in the message.
On Board were 12 people.
In turn, the group freedom Flotilla announced that on August 3, lost contact with his ship called “Freedom” . A ship flying the flag of Sweden was carrying medicine to the Gaza strip. All on Board were 12 people – citizens of five countries. Among them were two journalists.
Last week the Israeli Navy intercepted another ship of the freedom Flotilla. The ship “al aouda” under the Norwegian flag was also carrying medical supplies.
