The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko during the meeting with EU Commissioner for European neighbourhood policy and negotiations to expand Johannes Hahn discussed the situation of security in the Donbass and the importance of full implementation of the Minsk agreements.

As reported on Thursday the press service of the President of Ukraine, the parties stressed the importance of full implementation of the Minsk agreements, especially in terms of safety.

“The EU Commissioner confirmed the European Union’s policy regarding non-recognition of the occupation of the Crimea by Russia and a binding sanctions regime against Russia to the full implementation of the Minsk agreements”, – stated in the message.

Also Poroshenko and Th.Khan noted the symbolism of the anticipated launch of a visa-free regime and complete the process of ratification of the Association Agreement with the EU. “Emphasized the importance of full implementation of the Association Agreement with the aim of creating favourable conditions for Ukraine’s integration in the EU internal market, improving competitiveness of Ukrainian goods on international markets and the quality of goods and services for Ukrainian consumers,” – said in the message.

The President of Ukraine confirmed that, despite the difficult challenges, Ukraine is confidently moving towards implementation of comprehensive reforms.

In turn, the Commissioner assured that the EU will remain a reliable partner of Ukraine and will continue to provide the necessary support in the context of countering the aggression, and ways to implement internal reforms.

“The parties agreed on the importance of providing a high level of transparency in activities of state authorities and non-governmental organizations, in accordance with European standards”, – is told in the message.

The President of Ukraine and the EU Commissioner discussed the issues related to the preparation to the summit Ukraine – the European Union on 13 July 2017 in Kiev.
