The foreign Ministers of great Britain and Poland launched an initiative to expand the “channel four” other States interested in conflict settlement in the Donbass, by submitting a proposal to the Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin.

According to head the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Poland Witold Waszczykowski, the discussion in a larger format can give new shocks in the process of conflict settlement in the Donbass, and Warsaw and other interested parties can join the “Normandy format” , reports “Russian conversation”.

The proposal of the Polish Minister found support from the British foreign Secretary Boris Johnson, but Klimkin has admitted that he is not ready to discuss and make some conclusions upon possible the emergence of new players in the “channel format”.

“When three friends meet together – this is not necessarily the formal beginning of the new format, but it’s definitely the beginning of a new collaborative effort,” he said at a joint press conference with his Western counterparts.

Recall that the possible extension of the “channel format” were also discussed on the sidelines of the security conference in Munich on 17-19 February. It was about the extension of the Quartet by joining in the negotiation process of the United States, however, the Ukrainian side yet denies such a scenario.
