MOSCOW, December 21. /TASS/. Russia will hold competitions involving foreigners for those athletes who will not participate in the Olympic games 2018 in Pyeongchang. About this at the final press conference said the Minister of sports of Russia Pavel Kolobkov.

“We will not hold alternative Games. The Olympics are the property of the International Olympic Committee,” said Kolobok.

“Now we are working on the issue of holding a series of competitions and inviting foreign colleagues. Also consider the possibility of creating a prize pool of these tournaments. If athletes decide that not going to the Olympics, that is their right. They will be able to financially capitalize on other sports tournaments, showing results,” the Minister added .

Russian athletes will participate in the winter Olympic games in Pyeongchang under the Olympic flag after the decision of the Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee to temporarily suspend the membership of the Russian Olympic Committee.
