MOSCOW, December 15. /TASS/. Training of Russian sportsmen for the winter Olympic games in 2018, which will be held in South Korea’s Pyeongchang, are proceeding as planned. This was stated by the Minister of sports of Russia Pavel Kolobkov, whose word brings the press service of the Ministry .

On Friday, Moscow hosted the meeting of the Collegium of the Ministry of sport of the Russian Federation, on which Kolobok commented on the decision of the Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) the dismissal of the Russian team from participation in the Olympics in 2018, in which Russian athletes will be able to participate in competitions under the Olympic flag.

“Everyone knows about the IOC decision and the decision of the Olympic Assembly, which Russian athletes will travel to Pyeongchang under the flag of the IOC, said Buns. – Last months the situation on the tolerance of our athletes for the Games in 2018 was in the focus of Russian and international public. However, the preparations for the Games are proceeding as planned, we have an understanding of what can expect in light of the requirements of the IOC. However, all the nuances are not yet clear, and the Russian side is making every effort to speed up the process of clarification of conditions of participation in the competition; among those athletes who were preparing for the Games and meet the criteria of the IOC, there are clear leaders who will fight for the highest places”.

During the meeting, the panel discussed the preparation and participation of Russian athletes for the Games in 2018, as well as issues of forming a unified calendar plan of interregional, all-Russian and international sports and sporting events in 2018.

Also Kolobkov summarized the work of the Ministry of sport in 2017. He noted that in the framework of legislative activities has prepared a number of draft Federal laws, in particular, on strengthening of responsibility for violation of anti-doping rules, on the preparation and holding in Russia the world football championship 2018, to increase the income from the activities of bookmakers. In addition, the sports Minister has paid attention to anti-doping work. Was developed the national plan of fight against doping, totally reformed the Russian anti-doping Agency (RUSADA), reorganized the work of the anti-doping laboratory, there is a constant interaction with the world anti-doping Agency, the IOC and the International Paralympic Committee.
