The solution to security issues in the settlement of the situation in the East of Ukraine should be a priority and only after that you can proceed to the solution of political questions, said the representative of Ukraine in the Tripartite contact group Leonid Kuchma at a meeting with the delegation of the European external action service.

“Special attention is paid to the Minsk process. Leonid Kuchma stressed that the security issues must come first – we are talking about a full ceasefire, the withdrawal from the territory of Ukraine by foreign armed formations and military equipment, the resumption of the Ukrainian control over the Ukrainian-Russian border. Only then can you move on to the political bloc”, – said the press Secretary of Leonid Kuchma Darka olifer.

According to her, Kuchma received the delegation headed by Deputy Secretary General for political Affairs European external action service Jean-Christophe Belyard Wednesday, October 23. Also in negotiations took part the head of representation of EU in Ukraine Matti Maasikas and the head of group of support of Ukraine in the European Commission Peter Wagner.

According to her, Belyard drew attention to the full support of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine by the EU.

As reported, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky was appointed the second President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma with head of the Ukrainian delegation in the Trilateral contact group on the peaceful settlement of the situation in Donbas in June 2019. Earlier, Kuchma represented Ukraine in the Tripartite contact group in the years 2014-2018.
