Activists seeking solutions to the housing problem.

Today, Nur-Sultan dozens of many mothers and single mothers have gathered at a building of President residence – Akorda, to Express their demands in resolving the housing problems of the higher leadership of the country. The authorities asked the women to go to the Parliament building. Women came Deputy Prime Minister Gulshara Abdykalikova, Minister of labor and social protection Berdibek Saparbayev and akim of the capital Bakhyt Sultanov. Tired of the promises of the officials, about a dozen women decided to go on hunger strike, reports “Radio Azattyk”.

“LET US COME TOKAYEV!”

On Monday, 3 June, about 30 women, among them mothers with many children and single mothers – came to the building reports to give the current President Kasym-Zhomart Tokaev, the problems, chief of which is housing. The audience said their income was insufficient to purchase housing. They told me that the years are in the queue for housing and forced to live in rented premises adapted for housing.

Women called on the President Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev and the Prime Minister Askar Mamin to go to them and chanted “Housing our children” and “Leader” (the title of “leader of the nation”, enshrined in law for the ex-President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, who in March resigned, but retained in their hands considerable leverage on the government in the country).

– There is no need to shout. The housing issue will be addressed for each individually. Someone has four kids, someone- five. Someone standing in the queue for housing who do not. Consider in an individual order, – promised the audience Abdykalikova.

According to the women, within four months after the February fire in Astana that killed five girls, sisters, the authorities have not taken any concrete steps to address the problems of large families, in particular the problems of housing.

The mother of ten children Gulshat Zhumagaliyev told the reporter that lives with his family in the capital for 20 years, own homes, and has not for the past 11 years, the family stands in a queue for housing.

– Live in the wreck. The eldest child of 21 years, the youngest is seven months. Left the baby at home to come here. We have who not only turned, but no one from the Governor’s office nor from the government came, asked how we live – said Zhumagaliyev.

It was supported by other women. “We listened to the Minister and the mayor, but are tired of their empty promises, says a mother Gulzada Abramova. – If to us will come Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Askar Mamin (Prime Minister of Kazakhstan. – Ed.) or of the nation, we are ready to announce a hunger strike”.

Deputy akim of the capital Erlan Kanalima, commenting on Azattyk a peaceful demonstration of mothers said that the authorities resolve social support for low-income families. According to him, issues with the calculation of targeted social assistance (TSA) in the capital is not worth it. As for the problems with the provision of housing, Canalino reported that, according to government regulation, families put in a separate queue.

– Mortgage terms under two percent approved. Part of administration of a large will be issued certificates for one million tenge for a down payment. Currently undergoing internal Bank procedures that will be completed by June 17. Among these people are those who stood in the queue for housing for seven to eight years. They’ve waited all these years, is it not possible to wait until the 17-th, – said the Deputy mayor Noor Sultan.
