Roskomnadzor has commented on the failure of the WhatsApp messenger in Russia

“From January 1, 2018, the message service will not be available on phones running Windows Phone 8.0 (or older versions), BlackBerry OS or BlackBerry 10″, the article says.

At the end of next year, the company also plans to stop working with Nokia S40, and by 2020 to abandon smartphones running on Android 2.3.7 and older. WhatsApp said that the lack of support will take place gradually.

“Although these mobile devices were an important part of our history, they have no opportunities that we need to expand the functions of our app in the future,” the newspaper quoted the statement of the company in 2016.

The company recommend users with smartphones to move to a new Android, iPhone or Windows Phone.
