Mining and metallurgical group “Metinvest” in 2019, directed $82.6 million in environmental projects of the Mariupol metallurgical combine them. Ilyich (MMK) and Azovstal (both – Mariupol, Donetsk region), continuously upgrading them to the production.

Furthermore, in 2019 at MMK has completed the reconstruction of gas cleaning plant of basic oxygen furnace # 3, is a reconstruction of gas cleaning casting yards and bunker overpass blast furnace (BF) No. 3. Work continues on the construction of the dust collection system of mixer Department, also at the final stage is the most ambitious project this year – modernization of the sinter plant.

At the metallurgical plant “Azovstal” also implemented a number of environmental projects. In particular commissioned after the reconstruction of aspiration system for crusher Ferroalloy, installation of a new gas separation desulphurization, which is already connected to exhaust fans and performed commissioning. Reconstruction of the aspiration system of ladle furnaces No. 1 and No. 2. Currently, the new powder-gas purification installation ensure that the dust emissions after the cleaning in bag filters not more than 20 mg/cu. m. In the active phase of construction work of aspiration system of mixer Department of BOF shop.

Completed construction of the pumping station of purified recycled water for cooling BF-3 is part of an extensive renovation of the furnace, now the furnace is allowed to cool without using seawater, which will make the industrial process more environmentally friendly.

In a press release it is recalled that in 2019, stopped two blast furnaces: blast furnace No. 5 was taken out of operation and BF # 6, it is repaired. Blast furnace production update within the Technology of the 2030 strategy, which includes implementation of several environmental measures. The repair of the DP-6 will improve its efficiency, reduce production costs and to reduce dust emissions by 55%. After the construction of the DP-6 installation of pulverized coal injection all blast furnace at “Azovstal” will be equipped with this technology.
