Trump doesn’t want to protect the “small” NATO allies

The US President has previously stated that Montenegro is a country “with a very strong and very aggressive people”.

The government of Montenegro answered the statement of the President of the United States Donald trump about the need to protect such “small allies”. This is stated in the statement on the Agency’s website, published on Thursday, July 19.

The statement said that the country, as a new NATO member and EU candidate country, contributes to peace and stability not only on the European continent, but also in Afghanistan along with American soldiers in Afghanistan.

It is noted that Montenegro was the only Balkan country, which during the breakup of Yugoslavia the war broke out.

“We build friendships and still have not lost a single friend, at the same time, we are able to protect our own national interests. In the modern world no matter how you big or small . It is important how much you appreciate the values of freedom, solidarity and democracy,” the statement said.

Based on this, the statement, the friendship and Alliance of Montenegro and the United States are strong and permanent.

Before trump has declared that American troops should not protect Montenegro, because “it is very unfair, because they don’t even pay”.

Montenegro joined NATO, 5 June 2017, becoming the youngest member of the Alliance. Its defense spending in 2017, according to open sources, amounted to EUR 66 million, that is 1.66 percent of GDP.
