“Naftogaz of Ukraine” deplores yet another delay on the initiative of Russia trilateral talks with the participation of the EU to discuss gas transit after 2019, said the Executive Director of NAC Yuriy Vitrenko.
“The reason is obvious – after Ukraine and the EU took a consolidated position that the transit via Ukraine should be carried at fair European rules, for Russia, these negotiations have become uninteresting”, – he wrote on his page in Facebook.
“It seems that Russia is waiting for “negotiators” who will take the interests of Ukraine and not to agree on a civilized and fair rules for all parties,” – said Vitrenko.
According to him, called the Russian side the reason for the postponement of the talks was the formation of a new government in Ukraine according to the results of the parliamentary elections is an excuse. “The similar situation was and with the presidential election (held 21 April – if), which they used to justify the transfer of tripartite meetings,” recalled the Executive Director of “Naftogaz”.
In his opinion, under the circumstances, Ukraine needs to explain to the West that Ukraine and Europe are trying to cheat, as they cheated in 2009, and that effective action is stopping the construction of “Nord stream 2” and effective antitrust investigation on the complaint of “Naftogaz” against “Gazprom”.
“And (need) to prepare for the termination of transit 2020, while international arbitration in return for a compensation,” called another step Vitrenko.
Russian energy Minister Alexander Novak at the meeting with the Vice-President of the European Commission maroš Šefčovič on Thursday in Moscow said that Russia, Ukraine and the European Commission can conduct tripartite consultations on gas issues in the second half of September.
