MINSK, 24 may. /TASS/. NATO sees Russia as the main source of conflict and tension in Europe.

As reported the correspondent of TASS, said on Thursday Deputy assistant NATO Secretary General for political Affairs and security policy James Appathurai on the forum “Eastern Europe: in search of security for all”.

“The main tensions and challenges we face in Eastern Europe, tensions between East and West is the relationship with Russia,” he said. According to him, the number of countries in Eastern Europe are dependent on Russia, creating tensions between Moscow and the West.

He reminded of the signing in Minsk agreements on Ukraine, noting that NATO does not see any steps to implement them. “This is the main source of conflict and tension in Europe. NATO is really pushing for respect for the territorial integrity of States. And we do not see that Russia is trying to find solutions even for the problems identified,” said Appathurai .

The NATO representative also expressed concern about Russian military exercises, including on the borders of the countries – members of the Alliance. “Huge exercises take place on our borders, they simulated attack scenarios on us, he said. – We are witnessing from the Russian side a desire for unpredictability, ambiguity in the conduct of military exercises”.
